We've changed our name from elizabethavenuepawnshop to halfstops to better reflect our interests. And besides, we never really were a pawn shop and haven't lived on elizabeth avenue for ages. Hello, and thanks for looking. Here we have something of a sad situation.
Two great cameras that went unused for a long time and were stored poorly (they came from the same person). First up is a chrome F with FTN finder. It has a 50mm F1.4 Nikkor-S lens #887007. Also has a soft shutter release and a flash coupler. The FTN meter does not power up.
I tried a little contact cleaner. Optically the FTN is fine. Focus turns but has tight spots.
It needs lubrication, you can feel the lack of it. There's fungus inside but no marks or scratches on the glass. A real shame as it looks like a camera and lens that were never used much to begin with. I hope someone resurrects them The F3 is #1241957 and looks to have been used some with light brassing on the edges and some general use marks.
Lens is a 35-105mm F3.5-4.5 AIs #2059602. Like the 50 on the F there is fungus inside but it otherwise seems to work fine, zooming and focusing smoothly, with a clean diaphragm. And like the F body the battery chamber on this F3 looks fine but the camera does not turn on. Mechanical shutter release works fine so advance could be tested and is smooth. Depth of field lever works. The standard prism is optically fine and perfectly useable. Note the motor cover is missing (there was no MD-4 with this when I got it but obviously there was at some point in the camera's past). Also note that as you peer inside the mirror box and around you can see old dried white powder, evidence of moisture from poor storage. Same goes for the F. As if the fungus in the lenses wasn't enough evidence.
Both lenses have filters on front but no caps. Hope someone will return these to their former glory. Note: upon closer inspection I noticed some light fungus in between the prisms and viewfinder eyepiece of both finders. You don't notice at all when viewing through, only with the finder removed and the prism held up to a light.
